Display Logistics

Dalys provided a robust solution to minimise downtime and connect multiple sites for point-of-sale business

Display Logistics are a specialist point-of-sale display, design and manufacturing business based on the Meridian Business Park in Leicester.  They were coming close to the end of their current telephony contract when they were referred to us by another of our customers for whom Dalys had recently upgraded their aged telecoms.

Display Logistics needed to upgrade their current communications to a more flexible and effective system and they also required to make cost savings to justify the initial expenditure, this was to coincide with a staged premises relocation.

As part of their upgrade, Display Logistics had previously arranged for an 80:20 fibre broadband connection through another supplier. However, they were unfortunately let down and were left with just a standard 2MB service on the day of the move, instead of the promised 80mb service. With no remote access to the provided router, the provider was unable to carry out the required router changes to allow connection of the SIP trunks. Dalys was able to send over a Draytek broadband router configured for SIP, however the provider was still unable to provide a high-speed fibre broadband service.

The installation was booked to take place on a Friday although the broadband was not yet installed, and by Monday there was still no sign of the broadband.  However, there was a solution in sight!

Following instruction from Account Manager, Malcolm Roe, Dalys’ senior engineer, Matt Chetwynd found that there was a very narrow line-of-sight opportunity and following a survey found a clear line between some trees from the old premises to the new premises.  As the high speed broadband service was still live in the original premises, we were able to connect the two building wirelessly within less than 24 hours and get the 20 users of the new NEC SV9100 were up and running.
