There is a lot of talk about ‘cloud’ based systems and whether this is a better option for your company as opposed to an on premise solution that most people are currently more familiar with. The most important thing to do is to get is the right advice for your business and consider the pros and cons of both options.
The on premise solution is how we are more used to having our telephony delivered, with the telephone system installed on the premises, this will then be looked after by the installer through a maintenance contract quite often with changes and fault fixing being carried out remotely.
If you opt for a cloud based phone system, the hardware is then based with the provider, this is a useful solution for those with limited space, or those in a temporary situation where they are likely to relocate in a short period of time. A cloud based system can also be useful for a fluctuating workforce as there is an opportunity to lease handsets on a short term basis and, therefore, not exposing the business to a large capital outlay.
Also to consider, is the infrastructure at your premises and whether you wish to upgrade your incoming lines; please be aware that this may not be financially feasible if you are tied into long term contracts with your provider. Important to note also, is that a hosted system depends on the quality of the internet that is available for your premises, which if not suitable for a hosted system could be more expensive to upgrade, making an on premise solution the more suitable choice.
