Package A – Broadband Connection

A networked broadband package which gives the option of configuration to allow remote access across a VPN. i.e. for home-based workers. This also gives access to the internet and email to all networked PC’s, over a secure connection. A networked broadband installation from DSL will give full value from your connection, tailored to your business needs.

Additional options
UPS (uninterruptible power supply) providing cover during power cuts and surge protection, thereby helping to protect expensive IT and Network equipment.
VPN (virtual private network) Router, adding the capability to make secure connections over the internet, these could be from individual computers or remote network . This also offers keyword blocking, which enables bars on certain websites.
Wireless Router
As above but also has the ability to support Wireless clients enabling remote
working.

Package B – Network Connectivity

The networking package for the growing business needing to move forward with IT and requiring a computer network. A networked system will allow the sharing of information and equipment, and the central Storage of data, greatly improving efficiency.

Typical equipment/services required
Cat 5 cabling and sufficient points
PCs running on an operating system on Windows 95 or later
Ethernet Switch – rack mounted
PCI 10/100 network cards - one network card is required per PC
IT Engineer for half a day or more (subject to survey)
BT Broadband which includes the services mentioned in Package A
BT ISDN line and an ISDN Router - similar features to the broadband and router mentioned above, but dials on demand, for areas where broadband is not available. This requires an additional half-day for configuration by an engineers.
Wireless LAN - details as Package A
Network File Storage - simple ‘Black Box’ allowing secure file sharing
without the expense and complications of running file servers.

Package C - Server / Network Package

Server based systems are extremely secure, only users with permission and who have successfully logged on have access. It also gives the benefit of corporate email (provided an internet connection is included). Instead of peter@dalys.freeserve.net, your business can have as many email addresses as required with your own domain, eg. anything@dalys.co.uk.

Meetings can be scheduled with powerful calendar functions. Internal messages and email are both instant, whether logged on or not the server acts as an email ‘post office’. Users can also send and receive faxes from their desktop. This package offers a secure shared internet connection and the method used to connect can be more flexible, including a modem/ dial-up connection if required. Corporate antivirus is managed from the server and cannot be turned off or configured by individual users.

Typical requirements for 5 users:
Server running Windows 2003 Small Business Server and 5 Licences
Networked antivirus system for 5 Clients
Ethernet switch – rack mounted for 16 Ports
PCI 10/100 network cards – one network card is required per PC
IT Engineer, from two full days - subject to survey

Additional options
Broadband and the services mentioned previously
Network File Storage, as Package B, but in this instance used for redundant storage, offering a doubly secure file storage method.
