Dalys are enterprising with chip & pin

Dalys has recently completed a project for Enterprise Rent-A-Car, to install Chip & Pin (C & P) devices. The project entailed visiting 313 Enterprise branches across the UK and Northern Ireland; from Penzance in Cornwall, to Elgin in Morayshire.

An initial group of installations were carried out in the south east region to allow for software testing, and after it was agreed that everything was working as required, the roll-out began in earnest.

The project required painstaking planning, and excellent team work between Daly's Project Manager (Malcolm Roe, pictured above) and engineers, and the Enterprise UK head office in Egham. This also included hours of conference calls also involving Enterprise in St Louis, USA, to ensure the success of the project. Getting Daly's engineers to each site with as little wasted travelling and mileage between branches as possible, was also a priority to keep the project on schedule.

Liaison with the Branch Managers on each site to ascertain the availability of electric and network points, and the location for the devices, was required prior to the engineer's visit.

Once on site the Daly's engineer carried out a registration process for each chip & pin device with an engineer in St Louis, which meant the US engineers starting at 2am to compensate for the difference in time zones. The visits finished with a completion document being signed off by each branch manager.

Daly's engineers visited between 3 and 5 sites per day; to ensure that our engineers were kept supplied the devices were held in stock at Dalys. Dalys and Enterprise were extremely pleased that the whole project was completed, successfully, ahead of schedule.

Now the roll-out has been completed, future supply and installation for new sites has been passed back to the Enterprise IT solutions partner.
