Elta Lighting, based in Birmingham, is a major distributor of bulbs, predominately to the automotive trade, with brand names such as Lucas and Hella. Growth within the business and additional sites in other areas meant that Elta needed to review their telecommunication systems. With these requirements in mind, Elta contacted Leicester based, Daly Systems Limited, who recommended an NEC Aspire System, and to maximise the system’s efficiency and flexibility it was suggested that they upgraded their lines to ISDN30. In order to promote a unified image to customers they chose to use non-geographic numbers. And, by having a range of non-geographic and ddi numbers, calls could be directed to the correct building, department or member of staff. Display handsets were included in the spec so staff could quickly identify the caller. On site professional user-training ensured that workplace efficiency was optimised. With the addition of voicemail, giving easy access to messages, music-on-hold, and a door phone for security, the system was complete. As in any business keeping costs to a minimum is important and to this end Elta Lighting chose BT Business Plan, which gave reduced call-costs, and free upgrade to ISDN lines. Jilli Bates, Assistant Manager, of Elta Lighting, who spearheaded the changes said, “I would have no hesitation in recommending Daly Systems, the advice they gave was clear and everything was explained [by Malcolm Roe] in a friendly and helpful manner. Elta Lighting now have a user-friendly and cost effective communication system which is fully future-proofed, to ensure that as our business grows the system can grow and change with us."
