Dalys and Mobotix

Cromwell Tools contacted Dalys to help solve a problem for one of their customers. Converteam, a specialist power conversion company desperately needed to film the inside of a grinding machine that required extreme accuracy in the set-up, to ensure the correct position of the grinding wheel against the subject being worked on. The machine does have viewing panels, however, the mechanics of the grinding wheel obscured the area of contact from view. This meant that in order to check the settings, it was necessary for an operative to enter the machine. Apart from the Health & Safety aspect of this, it also caused production down-time opening-up and closing the machine.
A quick set-up test was carried out to check that this solution was feasible and as the initial results were positive the project was set to go. The cameras used for this were from the highly acclaimed Mobotix IP range connected to a PC for local viewing.
Two cameras were installed to the machine casing and as they are of internal and external quality, could remain operating in the environment created by the machine, which uses both coolants and lubricants. The camera housing will require a wipe down periodically to retain the picture quality.
This was an unusual project for Dalys and has saved time and money for the customer and it has proved the versatility of the Mobotix solution. ( . . . and that of our engineer!)
